What is a neurosurgical consultation?

A neurosurgical consultation is a detailed conversation and examination with Dr. Pathi to understand a symptom, condition, or finding related to the brain, spine, or nervous system — and to work out, together, what (if anything) needs to happen next.

It is not the same as agreeing to surgery. Most consultations result in a conservative management plan, further monitoring, or a referral for specific tests — surgery is only ever one possible outcome among several.

Common questions

Before you book

Do I need a referral to book a neurosurgical consultation?
No formal referral is required — you can book directly with our clinic.
Will I need a scan before my consultation?
Not necessarily. Dr. Pathi will examine you first and recommend imaging only if it's genuinely needed to reach a diagnosis.
Does a consultation mean I'm agreeing to surgery?
Not at all. A consultation is simply an evaluation — most result in a conservative plan or further monitoring, not surgery.
How long does a first consultation take?
Enough time to review your history, examine you thoroughly, and answer your questions without feeling rushed.
