Pediatric Consultation

A pediatrician who listens to the parent as carefully as she examines the child

Whether it's a fever that won't settle, a worry about growth, or a routine check-up, Dr. K. Sushma takes the time to understand your child and answer your questions properly.

Pediatric Consultation at Anoki

Some situations shouldn't wait for an appointment

If your child has any of these, go to the nearest emergency facility or call emergency services (108) rather than booking a routine visit.

Difficulty breathing, or breathing very fast Fever in a baby under 3 months old A seizure, or unusual stiffness or limpness Very drowsy, or hard to wake Signs of dehydration: no urine for many hours, dry mouth, no tears Persistent vomiting, or blood in vomit or stool
Trust your instinct as a parent: if something feels seriously wrong, don't wait.

No question is too small to ask

Parents often hold back questions for fear of sounding over-anxious. Here, they're welcome. Many worries turn out to be completely normal, and hearing that from a doctor who has actually examined your child is worth the visit on its own.

Not gaining weight, short stature, or the opposite worry.

Development & milestones

Speech, walking, social skills, and "is this normal for their age?"

Feeding & nutrition

Picky eating, breastfeeding questions, starting solids, healthy diets.

Vaccinations & check-ups

Keeping immunizations on schedule and routine well-child visits.

Sleep & behavior

Sleep troubles, tantrums, attention or school-related concerns.

What actually happens

Your child's visit, step by step

So you and your child both know what to expect.

1

You're heard first

Dr. Sushma begins by listening: what you've noticed, how long, and what worries you most. Parents often notice things that matter.

2

Time to settle in

Children are given a few minutes to get comfortable, and a lot can be learned simply from watching how a child plays and moves.

3

Growth and a gentle examination

Weight, height and, for younger children, head size are recorded and plotted against growth charts. The examination is gentle and paced to your child.

4

A clear explanation, in plain language

What's going on, what's normal, what to watch for. Any tests are suggested only if they will genuinely help.

5

A plan you can follow at home

Written, practical guidance, including when to come back and when to seek help sooner.

Before your visit

What to bring

A little preparation helps a lot

Vaccination card

So immunization status can be checked and updated.

Previous growth records, prescriptions and reports

Including any earlier doctor's notes or test results.

Notes on symptoms, feeding or sleep

When it started, how often, what seems to help. Short notes are enough.

A comfort item and a snack, for younger children

A familiar toy or blanket makes the visit calmer for everyone.

Your list of questions

Write them down so nothing gets forgotten in the moment.

If the concern involves the brain, nerves or spine

Seizures, head-size concerns, unusual movements or developmental regression may need a neurological opinion. Because Anoki has both a pediatrician and a neurosurgeon under one roof, your child's care can continue without starting over elsewhere.

Common questions

Questions parents often ask

Should I bring my child even if they seem to be getting better?

If you're still worried, yes. Being examined and reassured is a perfectly good reason for a visit, and recurring symptoms are worth a proper look even when each episode passes.

Will my child need injections or tests?

Only if it's needed. Most visits involve a conversation and a gentle examination. Tests are suggested when they will change the plan, and explained first.

My child is scared of doctors. Any advice?

It's very common. Tell your child honestly and simply what will happen, bring a comfort item, and let us know. The examination is paced so your child has time to settle.

Can I ask about vaccination schedules and nutrition at the same visit?

Absolutely. Routine questions about immunization, feeding, sleep and development are a core part of pediatric care, not an extra.

Is this different from the Pediatric Neurology service?

Yes. This is general pediatric care. Pediatric Neurology focuses on concerns involving the brain, nerves and spine, and brings Dr. Sushma and Dr. Pathi together when needed.
